Movie Review

Ben and I went to see Valkyrie last night. I LOVED IT! It definitely was not a make you feel good movie, but I went in there knowing what was going to happen and it was still exciting. We had seen a documentary on the real Valkyrie plan on the History Channel a few days ago and it really gave me an appreciation for what these brave men and women knew they had to do. It was touching to see the children of those involved speak so proudly of what their fathers had done for Germany and all of the world. I have seen reviews of this movie and have been reminded of how ridiculous Hollywood is. Many reviews were based on Tom Cruise, not the movie. I liked them both. The only bad thing about the movie was that right in front of us, a family had brought their LITTLE kids. They were banging their heads on the back of the seat and into my leg for awhile (until I told them to knock it off), and giggling the whole way through the movie, until the end ***SPOILER ALERT*** when they quieted down and sat still through all the suicides and executions. That is what I call responsible parenting. Idiots!
We also went and took the kids to see Marley and Me when we went to Tahoe last week. We were really looking forward to seeing it so we braved the casino and the singing Elvis we had to walk through to get to the theater. I think it had a lot of potential, but our kids started asking too many questions like "Why did she say there is a naked lady in their bed?", and "What is a _______?" so I guess I will have to wait for the DVD to find out on my own how that one ended. Oh well. Have you seen any movies lately?

I am looking forward to seeing Valkyrie. We don't go the movies a lot and we usually wait until they go to the dollar theater. Do you still like me knowing that I am that cheap? Anyway, we saw Eagle Eye on Friday and really enjoyed it. There was some swearing and I think the first scene had a little naughty talk but I was so worried about my popcorn that I missed it. :) I do have to warn you that it is intense, very intense, but I would see it again.

If you're looking for a family movie, you MUST see Bedtime Stories. It is the best movie I have seen in a long long time. The only adult(ish) movie I have seen is Twilight. Loved that one! Hope you are doing good!!

I saw Benjamin button. I thought it was really depressing. And way too long.

I have heard Marly and me is good but not really a kid show. We took Kennedy to Bedtime Stories and she loved it! Chad and I also liked it alot more than we thought we would. I also took Kennedy to BOLT and maybe I'm just a sucker for a dog movie but I cried, it was pretty cute too.
That's so funny about your hair! (well I'm sure you don't think it's that funny) Just dye it purple and no one will even notice :)

Don't ask me, we're still watching "Kung Foo Panda" twice daily. And oddly enough, I am not getting sick of it... "I love Kung FooOoooooooooo! "

We did see Marley and Me when we were home...I came out thinking, wow - finally a movie that didn't have any bad stuff in it! Funny, if I would've had my kids I would've been on high alert during your formentioned moments. It's a nice story about a family. At least they were married when she was in their bed! :)

Heather...yes, I think that I would really like it, I think we were just on heightened alert because of our kids. They are at the age where they pick up on EVERYTHING. I do want to finish it, though.

I went and saw Valkyrie when I was home for Christmas. I loved it as well. I have German blood coursing through my veins and its nice to know that we weren't the savages that history sometimes makes us out to be. I will agree that it wasn't kid friendly. People take their kids to the most horrid movies these days. Tony and I were going to a movie and we saw this couple take their 5-6 year old into 300!! I swear those people got in the "short line" in heaven just to get here faster.

I think you and I usually have similar opinions, but Brett and I saw Valkyrie for our anniversary and I hated it! Brett really liked it though. I am in a period of life right now where I only like to watch movies that end happy. I see too much sadness and unhappy endings at work and in real life, when I go to the movies I want to escape real life! I do see your point in liking the movie and it is very good to know the history and the sacrifices that people made, I think it teaches us a lesson.

We only go to the movies when we go home and Mamie can get us in free! We did rent Hancock the other day and I really liked that one!

Jared saw this movie and loved it, too. He also saw that documentary before seeing the movie and was so amazed by it.
