It was clean yesterday. This is what I find today. Why do I even bother? Today the story is that they were making tattoos. What this has to do with toilet paper shredded all over the floor is beyond me. I think, to their credit, that they may have been trying to clean up the make-up smeared all over the counter, that may have something to do with the empty Clorox wipe containers smashed on the floor. I hate to admit that tooth brushing is already a privilege that must be earned daily and supervised by a competent adult (this is because I was tired of tubes of toothpaste being squeezed out almost daily and spread out on counters, door knobs and pillows--you know, funny pranks like that). I am considering making usage of the bathroom for whatever reason a privilege also. Why are my kids so destructive? What have I done wrong? ARRRR!!!!!

Why?

I don't think you have done anything at all wrong. I think it is in their nature. I have a family room that the kids think that they can do whatever in. It drives me in sane. They also believe they own the backyard, the frontyard, and the neighbors front yard. I feel for you.
I once saw an episode of "wifeswap" where one of the moms made her kids sign-in to use the bathroom, then she would give them a key, and they only had ten minutes max! I thought she was crazy, but I am beginning to see her point!
If I didn't have a million things to do I would totally take a picture of my kids bathroom and send it to you. Then you would know that either you did nothing wrong or we both made the same fatal error. Either way kid bathrooms are just gross. I have learned however that my kids are motivated by a few precious things in this world and when I just can't stand it, I bribe them to make their bathroom sparkley for me.
Oh, your bathroom looks like mine if I don't leave the door shut. (well ok, It has gotten better lately) Roxy likes to go in there and pick the tissues out of the garbage can and rip those apart all over the house. I feel your pain. At least you can reason with your kids. She just runs away and does it again the next morning.
Bathroom is a privilege around here - otherwise, all the liquid soap would go down the drain. Laurel loves to play in the bathroom. Grrr! The toothpaste thing has happened here too.
i'm with yancey family on the sign in thing. my kids are about to all wear diapers again. i can't afford to buy any more toothpaste, just to have it eaten/smeared into the carpet, etc.
It's moments like these that I am thankful that I don't have any precious little one's of my own. :)
This is funny, but I think the comments and everyone understanding is even funnier!
Our kids have been there many many times. I know the feeling! Tell Ben hi from an old friend. :)
Oh Emily, I can totally relate! I just went into my bedroom to find a chair tipped over inside the closet, my hamper completely emptied onto the bedroom floor, my guitar out of it's case and also, on the bedroom floor (full of toys, I might add) and two little toddlers enjoying the mess, quite immensely.
I hope your day is better today and that your bathroom stays clean and happy :)
