November 5, 2008

Proposition 8 Passed!!! It was a close one, but we did it. We worked really hard, literally until the polls closed, and got the job done. Thank you everyone for your help, prayers etc.

That is the good news... the other good news is:

For at least four more years, I will not have to worry about:

* Gas for my evil suburban--BOs all over it.
* My mortgage payment--oh wait, we rent---somewhere out there, there must be some sort of program in the works to get me into my very own home, I do have a right, you know. I have my eye on one for sale. It is only about $600,000. I think now is the time, and if I can't afford it later, BOs got my back on that one too. YESSSSS!
* We've got two sets of braces looking us in the face next year, I was going to use our flex account, but I think I heard something about a universal healthcare program...the senators kids get braces, why shouldn't mine?
* All that talk radio, I am really sick of the biased hosts of talk radio. If only they were more open minded and fair, like network TV, everyone would REALLY see how stinking good things are going to be now that BO is in charge, good thing for the fairness doctrine. That is going to RULE. No more of this dang brain washing that has been going on.
* Bush's shrill, "unedumacated" talk. Yup, for at least 4 more years, its only the tobacco induced, dulcet tones of the great orator for all of us, lulling us all into a much deserved hypnotic break from all of the problems going on in the world. Who really wants to know anyway? We'll just let the smarter, more educated people do the thinking for us. We have much more important things to worry about, like our guns and our religion.
* Phew! I was afraid that I was going to have to teach my children that you have to work hard and get good grades to get into college, and that once you get there, it is still not a free ride! What have I been thinking? Not only do my children have a BO given right to go to college, he is also going to see to it that it is paid for, I don't know by who, but what do I care? Count them friends, that is 1,2,3,4,5,6 educations PAID FOR (somehow)! HOT DOG!

You know, I really must have been smoking something to think that McCain would have been a better choice. These next few years are going to be SOOOOOO AWESOME!!!

Maybe, you are sensing a little sarcasm. In all fairness, this is a historic year, and I am really hoping that it is not going to be as crappy as I think it is. If it isn't, I will take away the paragraph about my sarcasm.

Hooray for Proposition 8! Good work you fine people of California and good work Emily. There must always be a silver lining right? Which I suppose also means there must always be a dark cloud...?

YES!!! This means I get all these same things too . . . RIGHT!!! Because BOs gonna fix EVERYTHING that horrible Bush has done to our country. THANK GOODNESS. I thought I was actually gonna have to WORK for my next house and maybe be involved in my children's education, and perhaps pay for their college. NOW I can just go out and buy a new flat screen for every room in my house on credit and all the cute clothes I want, so I look SOOOOOO hot sitting on my new couches I am going to buy now that BO is gonna save the economy. AND while I am sitting there looking so pretty, watching the left wing media sing praises to BO for saving the world and this evil America in which we live in, I will be anxiously awaiting for my 500 dollar "redistribution" check to come in the mail (which has been taken from some American who actually works for their money) and just sit back and hope that someone else comes along to raise my children too, because after all, I am just SPENT from watching my new tv's and looking so pretty all the time. In the meantime . . . while someone else is raising my kids, I might as well have them teach them that gay marriage is okay! I mean WHY NOT! This is looking better and better. I don't know why I was ever even worried about BO. Thanks for clearing this all up for me!

BTW's good work on the Prop 8. Seriously, I am so proud of you. And a big YAHOO, to the other two states who passed a ban on gay marriage also. So this country isn't as Left as some say . . . . .

Maybe in 2012 we will actually have a conservative on the ballot. It was pretty much lose lose this time around! Although I would have taken McCain over the "chosen one" any day. But alas, I have my knees to kneel on and my arms to fold every night to pray for that the BO will actually do what is best for this "HELL" we have all been living in for the last 8 years, cause like I said, Bush has just done us in. Forget about everyone else involved. It was totally his fault. All of it.

I am so glad my children don't have to work their tails off, I mean why should they? They really should be out there with their just playing in the streets ALL day. They are just kids right? And when it is time to go to college Im sure they will have some computer that someone else will have paid for so IT can do all their homework for them. And if they break the computer they can just get a new one...Maybe now is the time to go back to school.. Wait, why should I? If someone else is going to pay my mortgage, and send me checks in the mail....I would probably get such a good education that I would be thrown into a higher tax bracket so, Jay and I will take a vacation to the bahamas and oops...get pregnant, again and have BO foot the bill... Sounds like fun to me

I also can appreciate the tobacco (not to be confused with tabasco) induced dulcet tones. Excellent work on Prop 8...

You are one funny lady! I second all that you wrote, but I too am hoping that it won't be as bad as we think. What I am really hoping is that in 4 years, everyone will be a little less enchanted of BO and maybe we can have a second chance at getting Mitt Romney elected!

I'm not sure if this link will work, but you can logon to facebook if you need to get it going. Anyway, this guy does a great job of articulating the arguments for voting Yes, and sites examples of how far some European countries have gone since making gay marriage legal.

Yay on Prop 8. Thanks for your hard work Emily. I hope you're not one of those volunteers who is getting harassed down there.
As for "the chosen one" - you articulated just how we feel. Got an e-mail from one of his supporters, a "friend" from school. It was supposed to be funny. On how the blue states are leaving the union and all that they get to take. It's taken all my self-control to not reply to her. I may still. Or I might just send her a congrats on her guy winning and be happy that we won too - with Prop 8. She lived in San Fran for a while, and I KNOW she was opposed to it.
Good job!

My sister-in-law and brother-in-law battled it out over Prop 8 on our My Family site. Hard to explain to some people how I feel about it.

Oh, I am not so heroic. But I was more than happy to stick up for Libbie. It is awful cowardly to crticize someone else's beliefs ANONYMOUSLY.

I can't wait to hear how much your bathroom carpet helps you lose weight. Every place in my bathroom produces a different number on the scale. The first time I tried it I weighed 83 lbs. Ha!

I was just thinking this morning about a good flashback friday involving you, me, Aunt Vicki, a bathrobe and a gun... It will be a while, I have to find a good picture to go with it. :)
