It Was A Good, Long Run.....

I went to the dentist today, by I, I mean all six kids and I. That was a real treat...no really! They took a few kids at a time, then took me back for my turn and the receptionist held the baby! I just sat and relaxed as my teeth were x-rayed, probed and cleaned. It was great--mostly. I have been a lucky gal for 32 years now, and have escaped the dreaded dentist's drill, until today, well, actually until November 18 when I have all SIX of my cavities filled. YIKES! I have never had a cavity in my life and now SIX! I will give myself a break because the dentist said that they are just the beginnings of little tiny ones on the ridges of my teeth and that it was good to catch them this early, but still! I am a little bummed. Also, my "classic european bite" (my teeth are somewhat inverted and are becoming more so every year) is causing wear on my lower teeth and so it was recommended that I get Invisiline to correct it. I am okay with that.
Jessica is also about to get braces. I gave her a little teasy scare when I told her we couldn't afford a certain appliance she needs and that she would just have to get headgear. We even looked up some headgear pictures online. I really had her going. It is going to be a fun year for our wallets and our mouths.

I HATE THE DENTIST and have always wished to be you with no cavities. I still wish to be you with just little cavities instead of root canals...:( I guess six cavities for six kids eh?

Too bad the streak of good tooth fortune had to come to an end. Now you are just a little more like the rest of us. You'll have to tell me how the invisiline goes. I've thought about doing that. However, I am terrified of having the molds made. I have serious mouth claustrophobia. Good luck in the chair - take some advil before you go and then after to avoid the drill headache. Unfortunately I have a little experience with that.

I can't believe you've never had a cavity until now! That's pretty impressive. I got my first one when I was pregnant with Jenna. I felt like a total hygiene failure. Hehe! Keep us updated on the Invisalign. I've always been curious about that.

Well congratulations on the six cavities! I better tell Damon he is the only one now who has never had a cavity in our family! Invisiline . . . You have wanted that for a while now! Yeah!

Emily - No cavities until now....wow, impressive!

Your dentist down there might be great, but let me tell you my story...
When was the last time you went to another dentist? I had a similar experience where I had been to the dentist and then moved the next year. The "new" dentist said I needed 7 fillings.

So...I decided to wait until I went home for Christmas and talk to my old dentist. He looked and said that I had 1 spot that they had been watching for years and that we could fill it but it wasn't really needed and the other 6 were nothing. He said just keep brushing well and you'll be great for awhile. Guess what, it was 7 more years before he needed to fill that 1 spot.

I thought I would share, just in case you want to get a second opinion....have I said to much? Cause really it's none of my business, just trying to save you from the drill...:)

I know how you feel about having lot of cavities. Up at school I had 7 that I had to get filled... Hopefully you have a better dentist than I did because the staff there were a few marbles short of a full bag.. The DA forgot to put the numbing jelly on before my 4 (per side so 8 total shots) shots and I was in tears by the 3rd.

Not long ago I saw "Jon and Kate + 8" take the kids to the doctor and so hats off to you Mother Emily for being "Emily + 6" takes all of them to the dentist and they even held the babe while you were in the chair-wow!! I think you should count some field trip points in there, too...

I can't believe you took all the kids at the same time! I guess that might be easier than taking them at separate times though. Totally reminds me of Jon & Kate Plus 8. Have you seen that show? I like watching it every now and then to make myself feel better. haha. It's great.
